This year, I was so fortunate to receive a grant from my district for the purchase of eight iPad minis along with the apps GarageBand and MadPad HD. As you can imagine, I was beside myself in excitement!!! Eight iPads, only for my classroom!??! I have been using only one iPad for the last two years, so having eight iPads was thrilling to ponder! It has been a fun and exciting journey so far...with some small bumps along the way. 10 Strategies for Rhythmic Reading and Writing

With this blog post, I'm hoping to give you lots of ideas to specifically address rhythmic reading and writing! Some of the ideas I will describe in this blog post, some will link to other blog posts, and some will link to freebies and other products. #1: Popsicle stick writing: I wrote in detail about popsicle stick writing in this blog post on my collaborative blog, the Kodaly Corner. #2: Dry erase boards: Having students dictate on dry erase boards can be a great way to practice rhythmic writing. After gluing all the parts on, the turkeys looked like this: Each turkey came with six feathers, but I only used five. F…

New Ideas

Once again, I'm excited to join the Blog Hoppin' Linky Party, this time to blog about new ideas! Often, when I get new ideas, it's from collaborating and sharing with other teachers. I have a few friends in my district who I absolutely love bouncing ideas off of. Whether we are chatting about something we tried in our classrooms, or something we are thinking about trying, we can share ideas without fear of judgment. I encourage you to find a friend who teaches the same subject/ grade level as you do, and share ideas with them!  Here are three new organizational/ management ideas: #1:…
